The Xchange is an informal gathering of bright, passionate entrepreneurs. You will learn more about the Idea Finishing School, meet the IFS executives and other entrepreneurs and experts, and get answers to your burning “issues of the day.”

We’ll provide drinks and munchies to get the weekend started off right. It’s the perfect way to finish out the week. So make sure you come along. Then you’ll be able to say you were one of the bright few who were there when it all started. You were at the first ever Idea Xchange. How cool is that?

This is an exciting week. After sitting in an empty office for the last few weeks, I have been moved into the main room with other people, and the room I was in has now officially become the Idea Finishing School. The furniture arrived this morning. I came in after lunch to find a bunch of desks set up. They’re all in little squares and it really does look like a classroom.

One whole wall is a window, so there’s plenty of natural light to hightlight the “money green” wall. Rebel picked that green as a way to inspire money thoughts into the students at the Idea Finishing School. Linda Mills moved her desk in there yesterday. Right now she thinks she has too much desk, but I assured her that it’ll get filled up before she knows it. It’s funny how quickly that happens.

I know Dean McCall is super excited that things are moving along. He’s been wanting to start The Idea Finishing School for years.

I’ve known Dean for years. I often refer to Dean as God, because it seems like he knows all, sees all and hears all in San Antonio. I’ve never met anyone who was so involved in the San Antonio community. If I ever have a question, I know Dean is the guy to get the answer from. It just seems fitting that Dean would start something like The Finishing School. Since everyone goes to Dean anyway for advice and to make connections, it makes sense he would start The Idea Finishing School where he could help people from the ground up.

We believe that San Antonio is ready to join the likes of the Silicon Valley and Austin in becoming a prime base for technology startup companies.  We started the Idea Finishing School (IFS) on the premise that San Antonio and Texas, for that matter, has promising early stage tech companies, but they don’t have the knowledge or capital to move to the next level.  Let’s face it; an entrepreneur is focused on his idea, not business plans, financials and corporate structure.  We have set up a program to help the entrepreneur go from startup to successful company. 

IFS is offering six companies with the right qualifications a great opportunity.  Our group of professionals who are experienced in technology, finance and marketing are offering 3-6 months of their hands-on expertise to make sure your company gets organized in the right way.  So not only will they set you up with great office space, they will also be there on a daily basis to help you with structuring your business.  We believe that offering our crucial resources will increase your rate of success.
